SeaWorld Orlando

It's no longer just about getting splashed by Shamu

Seaworld Orlando(C) SeaWorld 2002
In brief

When SeaWorld first opened, it was little more that a souped-up marine life park with attractions that could be found at many municipal aquariums. Since Anheuser-Busch took over however, the "Adventure Park" now features great thrill rides along with the Shamu escapades. The park's "Journey to Atlantis" is the grandest example of Sea World's new attitude. The highly themed water coaster marks SeaWorld's bold entry into the multi-million dollar "E ticket" ride showdown. And the Kraken floorless roller coaster -- the tallest coaster in Central Florida -- is flooring ride fans. A second park, the exclusive Discovery Cove, offers a daylong experience swimming with dolphins. This is not your father's SeaWorld.

  • Highlights: Journey to Atlantis themed water coaster, Kraken floorless coaster, Shamu stadium show, Wild Arctic simulator ride and arctic marine life exhibit
  • Dining: There is a nightly luau dinner show.
  • Tips: SeaWorld is a big park with lots of shows. Get a sense of the lay of the land, note the times of the shows and plan a rough itinerary before you wander aimlessly into the park.
